Another word for “Monitored”
What it is trying to claim: That you watched something over time.
Why it underperforms
Watching is passive and the word sounds it. Monitoring only becomes an achievement when something was caught or acted on, and the verb leaves that out. On operations résumés it is frequently the whole bullet, which reads as having been present while a system ran.
Stronger than "Monitored"
Not ranked. Each is right for one situation, and the situation is the column that matters.
| Word | Use it when |
|---|---|
| Tracked | You maintained a record over time and used it. |
| Caught | The point is what the monitoring found. |
| Maintained | The achievement is that it kept running. Give the uptime. |
| Audited | Periodic formal checks against a standard. |
| Instrumented | You built the monitoring rather than performing it. |
A real bullet, fixed
Before
Monitored system performance and reported issues.
After
Built the alerting for the payments service and cut mean time to detection from 40 minutes to under 3, catching two outages before customers reported them.
Building the monitoring is a stronger claim than performing it, and "before customers reported them" is the outcome that makes detection time meaningful.
When “Monitored” is the right word
In clinical, safety, and compliance contexts where monitoring is a defined duty with a standard behind it, and where the reader is checking you have done exactly that.
