Aurora is hiring a Staff Security Engineer for its Detection & Response team to lead cross-functional projects maturing detection infrastructure and expanding coverage across cloud and enterprise environments. This is a senior individual contributor position requiring deep expertise in threat detection, incident response, and cloud security.

About Aurora

Aurora is developing self-driving technology to improve safety, efficiency, and accessibility in mobility and logistics.

What you would do

Lead projects to mature detection infrastructure and log pipelines
Expand detection coverage across cloud and corporate environments
Design and tune detections for cloud, identity, and SaaS threats
Partner with engineering teams to embed logging requirements
Integrate threat intelligence and adversary emulation into detection
Conduct proactive threat hunting across cloud and endpoint data

Must have

10+ years of security experience
Experience leading cross-functional security projects
Strong technical foundation in threat detection and incident response
Expertise in cloud security across major providers
Experience building or maturing SIEM or data lake pipelines
Expertise in EDR and SaaS security monitoring
Experience authoring and maintaining detections
Experience with incident management and cross-departmental collaboration
Expertise with MITRE ATT&CK framework and NIST CSF
Ability to write quality, testable Python code

Nice to have

Experience designing and implementing Zero Trust Architecture
Experience scaling SOC or Detection Engineering with AI/LLM
Experience building and architecting data lakes
Experience with compliance frameworks like SOC 2 or ISO 27001
