The role
This role focuses on building scalable data pipelines to ingest and analyze AI usage and cost data from multiple providers. The engineer will design unified data models in Google BigQuery and create Power BI dashboards to support FinOps, Finance, and Engineering stakeholders. What you would do
- Design and maintain scalable data pipelines for AI usage and billing data
- Develop API integrations and scheduled ingestion using Python and Cloud Composer
- Build reliable ingestion with error handling, retries, monitoring, and validation
- Monitor vendor APIs and adapt integrations as schemas evolve
- Design unified BigQuery data model normalizing usage and billing data
- Build dimensional models supporting cost allocation and reporting
Must have
- 3+ years professional experience in data or analytics engineering
- Strong SQL proficiency and analytical data model design
- Hands-on Google BigQuery or comparable cloud warehouse experience
- Strong Python experience building data pipelines
- Experience with workflow orchestration like Airflow or Cloud Composer
- REST API integration including OAuth, pagination, and error handling
- Designing reliable data ingestion and validation processes
- Power BI semantic modeling, DAX, and dashboard development
- Understanding cloud billing and cost data structures
- Experience with Git and version-controlled workflows
- CI/CD practices for data pipelines and transformation code
- Dimensional modeling and incremental processing knowledge
Nice to have
- FinOps principles and FinOps Foundation certification
- AI/LLM usage or billing API integration experience
- dbt or Dataform transformation experience
- Enterprise cost allocation or chargeback model experience
- Terraform or Infrastructure as Code experience
- Data governance and compliance in enterprise environments
- Cost analytics, anomaly detection, or forecasting solutions
