The role

What you would do
- Develop firmware and software for advanced photonics and instrumentation products
- Program microcontrollers for embedded systems
- Develop graphical user interfaces (GUIs)
- Plan and implement complex software and firmware architectures
- Engage in system-level thinking and cross-disciplinary interactions
- Manage multiple projects, maintain schedules, and report progress to leadership
Must have
- 7+ years of firmware or software development experience in relevant instrumentation fields
- Experience with C/C++ for embedded real-time systems and microcontroller firmware
- Hands-on experience with bare-metal and RTOS embedded development
- Strong debugging skills with electronics lab tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
- Commitment to software engineering best practices including version control and documentation
- GUI development with C# and/or Qt C++ on Windows or Linux
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with GIT for version control
- Experience with Linux system configuration
Nice to have
- Experience with STM32 microcontrollers and FreeRTOS
- Proficiency with modern C++
- Experience using Azure DevOps for managing software projects
- Linux Bash scripting
- General understanding or hands-on experience with analog and digital electronics
- Good oral and written communication and technical presentation skills
