What you would do
- Architect and build the software foundation for the clinical prototype
- Write most of the code initially, then grow and manage the software team
- Design robust infrastructure coordinating communication between hardware devices
- Sustain high-performance data and image processing
- Develop a compelling, responsive user interface
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and research teams
Must have
- 8+ years building complex systems software
- Demonstrated ownership of multi-device, data-intensive, or real-time system architecture
- Strong individual contributor who has mentored or led engineers
- Proficiency in Python
- Depth in at least one systems language (C, C++, or Rust)
- Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and independent
- Excellent technical and analytical capability
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to work within a regulated medical software quality system
- Deep expertise in several of the listed technical areas
Nice to have
- Prior development under IEC 62304 / ISO 13485 design controls
- Experience in surgical robotics, surgical navigation, or image-guided surgery
- General knowledge of medical imaging (ultrasound, CT, MRI)
- Experience applying image processing, computer vision, or deep learning to medical images
- Experience with ultrasound prototyping hardware (Verasonics, Cephasonics)
- Familiarity with cloud backends (Google Cloud) for data offloading and ML pipelines
