What you would do

  • Select tasks from a pre-validated pool of C repositories
  • Explore repositories to understand subsystems and relevant history
  • Rewrite task questions to defeat frontier coding agents
  • Adjust rubrics and foils to reward correct reasoning
  • Run validation loop stages until all pass
  • Document work in task README and submit for review

Must have

  • 3+ years professional software engineering experience
  • Substantial production C experience
  • Navigate large unfamiliar C codebases
  • Explain runtime behavior of C systems
  • Comfort with preprocessor-heavy builds
  • Comfort with platform conditionals
  • Comfort with manual memory management
  • Comfort with autotools/CMake/Meson build graphs
  • Use debuggers, sanitizers, tracing, profilers
  • Precise written English for questions and rubrics

Nice to have

  • Experience with databases, cryptography, networking, or systems programming
