What you would do
- Architect and develop features end-to-end across the full stack
- Design data models and schemas for scalable systems
- Build and maintain highly available web and backend systems
- Adopt AI tooling to accelerate development and improve workflows
- Maintain and evolve backend services like curricula-api and progress services
- Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and champion engineering practices
Must have
- 5+ years professional software development experience
- Experience shipping high-quality web-based software for large user bases
- Hands-on experience with React or comparable SPA framework
- Proficiency with TypeScript on the frontend
- Experience building backend services and APIs
- Solid data modeling skills with relational databases, PostgreSQL preferred
- Experience conducting code reviews and mentoring other engineers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to thrive in agile, multidisciplinary team
Nice to have
- Experience with event-based or event-driven architecture
- Experience with AWS stack including ECS, Fargate, RDS, S3, CloudFront, Elasticache, Lambda
- Experience with Docker
- Experience with CI/CD using GitHub Actions
- Experience with observability and telemetry tooling like Datadog or Bugsnag
- Passion for education and improving student outcomes
