NISC is hiring a Data Engineer Intern to assist in building and maintaining data pipelines, contribute to data architecture using AWS and Databricks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. The internship is hybrid from one of three office locations and runs from May to August 2027.

What you would do

  • Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines for analytics and development
  • Learn and contribute to data architecture using AWS and Databricks
  • Gather, clean, and transform data from various sources
  • Collaborate with software developers, analysts, and product teams
  • Participate in team meetings, code reviews, and brainstorming sessions
  • Explore opportunities to automate manual processes and improve workflows

Must have

  • Familiarity with SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Java, or Scala)
  • Interest in cloud platforms (especially AWS) and big data tools like Spark or Databricks
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to change and maintain professionalism
  • Commitment to NISC's Statement of Shared Values
  • High school diploma or equivalency required
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in data science or computer science related field

Nice to have

  • Exposure to data pipeline tools like Airflow or Hevo Data
  • Experience with cloud services like AWS S3, Lambda, or EC2
  • Understanding of data warehousing or lakehouse concepts
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git
