This role is responsible for the operational health of ICW Group's data platform stack, including production support, platform administration, and monitoring. The engineer will own the run and maintain lifecycle of data pipelines, ensuring uptime, reliability, data quality, and cost efficiency. This is a hybrid position based in San Diego, CA.

What you would do

  • Own production health of data pipelines after development handoff.
  • Provide daily production support for on-prem and cloud data pipelines.
  • Monitor, triage, and resolve pipeline failures and platform alerts.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement fixes for data issues.
  • Validate runbooks and handoff documentation from development teams.
  • Maintain production support documentation like runbooks and SOPs.

Must have

  • Bachelor's degree in technology-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in data engineering or production support.
  • Experience administering a data lakehouse or data warehouse platform.
  • Hands-on RBAC, user management, and platform governance experience.
  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT patterns and data pipeline architecture.
  • SQL proficiency for troubleshooting and maintaining production systems.
  • Hands-on experience with dbt for job monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Apache Airflow for DAG monitoring and triage.
  • Experience with Fivetran for connector monitoring and administration.
  • Proficiency with AWS CloudWatch for monitoring and alarming.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda for data infrastructure.
  • Experience with data observability tools for monitoring and alerting.

Nice to have

  • Insurance experience is a plus.
  • Data architecture or engineering certifications strongly desired.
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner or more advanced AWS certification preferred.
  • Cloud practitioner or more advanced cloud certification preferred.
  • Certifications in major data warehouse or lakehouse platforms preferred.
  • Observability or monitoring tool certification is a plus.
  • Snowflake-specific experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with DOMO administration or willingness to learn.
