The role
Denari is hiring its first Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with accounting firms, understand their operations, and build, configure, and deploy solutions using the Denari platform. The role involves using agentic development tools to create practical solutions, defining success measures, and helping shape the FDE function. This is a hybrid role based in Madison, requiring three days in the office per week.

About Denari
Denari is building a modern software stack for accounting firms, an AI-powered platform that unifies client collaboration, document management, workflow automation, and financial insights. It is a small, well-funded team with a sister company, Lucida Tax + Accounting, that uses the platform daily.
What you would do
- Work directly with accounting firm partners to understand operations and identify problems.
- Design, build, configure, deploy, and maintain solutions within the Denari platform.
- Develop and customize agent skills and workflows in Denari Answers.
- Configure document schemas, user workflows, and automations across the platform.
- Use agentic coding tools to build integrations, automations, prototypes, and sidecar applications.
- Make targeted contributions to the core product to unlock partner value.
Must have
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to build trust with partners.
- Curiosity and judgment to turn ambiguous business problems into technical solutions.
- Strong ownership, self-direction, and comfort operating without a predefined playbook.
- Pragmatic mindset knowing when to configure, automate, build, or not use software.
- Confidence working across a broad range of systems, tools, and problem types.
- Substantial experience using AI agents in day-to-day work.
- Experience using agentic development tools like Claude Code to build applications.
- Ability to measure outcomes and explain the value of what was delivered.
- Comfort working directly with customers and maintaining high responsiveness.
- Clear, honest, upfront communication.
- Formal software engineering education or experience is not required.

- Experience as a Technical Solutions Engineer in a complex software environment.
- Highly effective at building with AI development tools.
