What you would do
- Own and operate the company's internet edge architecture, including ASN management and peering.
- Design, configure, and maintain SD-WAN, LAN, WAN, VPN, firewall, and switching/routing environments.
- Deploy and support InfiniBand fabrics for GPU cluster infrastructure.
- Implement network telemetry and BGP monitoring systems to detect routing anomalies and DDoS.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure reliability and uptime.
- Lead incident response for network edge events and author postmortems with remediation plans.
Must have
- Designed and operated resilient multi-homed internet edge architectures supporting >10Gbps sustained throughput.
- Implemented routing policy design, peering strategy (IXPs), and inbound/outbound traffic engineering.
- Validated failover procedures to meet SLA-backed uptime targets.
- Implemented advanced eBGP policy including route filtering, community manipulation, local-pref/MED tuning, and AS-path prepending.
- Built high-availability edge designs with redundant firewalls (active/passive or active/active).
- Implemented state synchronization, load balancing, and fast failure detection mechanisms like BFD.
- Designed and operated hybrid cloud interconnects and customer connectivity solutions including private interconnects and cross-connects.
- Implemented IPsec/GRE tunnels for customer connectivity.
- 7+ years of experience in network engineering or related infrastructure roles.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, ECMP, VLANs, and other Layer 2/3 technologies.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise switches, routers, and firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Arista, SONiC, Fortinet).
- Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus/Grafana).
Nice to have
- Experience implementing DDoS mitigation strategies, RTBH, or integration with scrubbing providers.
- Demonstrated technical leadership as a senior engineer, including setting technical standards.
- Driving network design projects end-to-end.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent experience.
- Exposure to HPC, data center networking, SD-WAN and InfiniBand.
- Experience in a fast-paced startup or cloud service provider environment.
