Another word for “Influenced”
What it is trying to claim: That an outcome went differently because of you, without your having authority.
Why it underperforms
It describes a real and valuable thing in the vaguest possible terms. Influence is invisible by nature, so the word asks the reader to take the whole claim on trust, and it is the sort of claim people make when they cannot point to a decision. It has also become management vocabulary, which makes it read as borrowed rather than descriptive.
