About Thinking Machines
Thinking Machines builds AI that extends human will and judgment, training frontier models and developing interfaces to broaden human-AI communication.
What you would do
- Enable researchers and engineers to use AI for coding productivity without compromising quality.
- Standardize AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex.
- Build secure, reproducible agent sandboxes for remote development and CI testing.
- Set up golden-path dev environments and guardrails for secrets and PII.
- Help individual contributors develop personalized AI-enabled workflows.
- Track tool usage, reliability, and cost.
Must have
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience in computer science or similar.
- Experience developing productivity tools and best practices for large codebases.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work with researchers on internal tools.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with container platforms like Docker or Kubernetes.
- Experience with modern CI like GitHub Actions or Buildkite.
- Experience with package management tools like uv.
- Practical experience with AI coding tools and model APIs like vLLM, SGLang, or TGI.
- Solid Linux and networking fundamentals.
- Comfort with secrets management and safe egress.
- Proficiency in systems programming languages like Rust.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python.
